VAN KUREN CHAPTER OFFICER,

and CHAIRPERSON MEETING MINUTES

18 May 1999

Attendees: Kent Bierley, Raelynn Bryan, Brenda Cooper, Billye Geisinger, Bill Bartlett

  1. President: Raelynn has found out that for our group to work at King's Island (and earn money), there must be ten volunteers for the same date. There had been an inquiry regarding shoes; dress code for shoes is white with blue or black. Also, they do not allow beards, but they do allow mustache's as long as they are neat, clean and trimmed. Raelynn is also waiting for a trip report from Kent and two sets of minutes from Bill: Dr. Van Kuren and Col Annas meeting.

  2. Executive Vice President: The executive Thursday morning meetings has helped in getting the group connected with NMA. Bill is writing up a staff summary sheet which will be coming by way of the board to address education restrictions.

  3. Professional Development: The SMS class has begun and has five students (two of those being new). There is a problem however with bringing in the video tapes. Bill has talked with Les Williams regarding storage. The AMS class is still on hold, but expected to begin before 30 Jun 99.

  4. Vice President of Administration: An NMA Open House is tentatively scheduled for 15 Jun 99, 1100-1300. Billye and Darlene are looking for suggestions on some kind of fund raiser that could be setup in the west parking lot; perhaps walking tacos and drinks.

  5. Awards and Recognition Committee: Raelynn asked that another call go out for nominations for the Manager of the Year with a 4 Jun 99 suspense. The original suspense for NMA members is 26 May 99. She also spoke with Capt Ashby again regarding a permanent plaque for the hallway. Raelynn also needs to know by 20 May 99, if anyone is available to pick up proclamations on either 24 or 27 May 99. The R-1 reports have been completed through February, but Kent needs the March board meeting minutes before he can begin on what's left.

  6. Program Committee: The CMP study group will start after the May workforce CMP program on 27 May 99, 1300, in room 8144. Billye will check with Aurea Rivera to see if she would speak with Betsy Witt regarding a one hour presentation on mentoring.

  7. American Enterprise Committee:

    1. Super Saturday: As the organization responsible for Super Saturday this year, NAIC is looking for 200 volunteers to participate on 21 Aug 99.

    2. Management Week: Raelynn is looking for ideas for the display case. She anticipates including the proclamations, Don Weddles? Manager of the Year plaque and the other items used last year. She is looking for current pictures. Kent sent out 14 proclamation requests. Installation of new officers will take place at the banquet. She will also be responsible for the program and will handle the call for a Master of Ceremonies.

  8. Public Relations: Copies of the newsletter were passed out to the officers who were asked to review it and send corrections to Brenda NLT than the following day. There was some discussion regarding how to get the newsletter to the members and retirees. Colonel Ryba has expressed that he was very impressed with the Van Kuren Chapter NMA home page.

  9. Financial Report: The books have been audited by Jan Coffee.

  10. Board Meeting News: The board decided they will continue with the $40.00 member fee for the next year. The board needs to schedule a briefing with the Vice Commander as soon as possible and come up with a proposed budget by 1 Jun 99. Note: Reinventing NMA is currently on hold. Election of officers can be handled however the board prefers, but Raelynn recommends a 2-ltr as president.

  11. Buckeye Council Report: There was no May meeting but there will be a meeting in June with Top Management and the recipient of the Gold Knight. The Van Kuren chapter has been asked to help with the Management Conference 18-20 May 2000.

  12. Open Discussion: The next chapter meeting will be 3 Jun 99.

  13. Adjournment
