VAN KUREN CHAPTER OFFICER,
and CHAIRPERSON MEETING MINUTES
28 January 1999
Attendees: Raelynn Bryan, Brenda Cooper, Kent Bierley; Exec Advisors: Aurea Rivera, Larry Orcutt; Board Members: Bill Bartlett (Chair), Jay Finley
- It was decided by all present, monthly officer's meeting will be the 2nd Mon of the month at 1000.
- Feb's recorder will be Brenda Cooper
- Billye is recuperating at home from her surgery. She will be out aprx another 4 weeks. We will keep in touch with her.
- Before Billye went on sick leave, she tried to check out the status of our legal paperwork. The JAG never received it. She sent it again. We are again waiting.
- Susan Allen sent Raelynn the Wright Chapter's flyer on this year's conference. The topic this year is "Bringing Enthusiasm to Your Job" by Dave Leedy and Dave Niemeyer. Raelynn
has extra flyers for those interested.
- Professional Development
- Nancy Burns has resigned as Professional Development Chair. Raelynn has asked Bill Bartlett to chair this position.
- The SMS #2 is under way with 5 students and an a great array of facilitator's starting with Bill and continuing with Larry Orcutt, Bill Setchell, Lt Col Foster, Mr Benson, and Capt
Ashby.
- The AMS class will begin the 2nd week of Feb under Bill Bartlett's direction.
- CMP will begin in Feb for those interested. Information will be on the announcement board.
- Program Committee
- Billye sent a note to Steve Bailey explaining what Creating the Future Organization (CTFO) is trying to do within NAIC.
- Program Suggestions for the next couple of months: Toastmasters, Y2K Status within NAIC and have the CC come and talk to the membership.
- American Enterprise
- Operation Christmas Child organization has sent us a thank you letter with hopes of our continuing support.
- Raelynn received a card from March of Dimes - their walk will be the 24th of Apr. More information will follow. Raelynn would like NMA/NAIC to put together a team to walk.
- Speech Contest Update - as of today there has been no response from area high schools. It is believed to be due to the holiday season and the weather problems. Kent will call schools
to remind them and send out further publicity to Skywriter, etc. The deadline has now changed to 1 Mar with the contest on 13 Mar. Still have a problem with a location. Raelynn will
check into the Kettering Rec Center and Jay Finley will check into Heather Green Senior Citizen Center. Also, the Fernald Chapter has asked if their 1998 candidate can compete in
our speech contest. We have agreed with the understanding that if he should win he would be the Van Kuren-Wright Chapter candidate.
- Public Relations
- Newsletter is ready to have inputs from each officer, the board, and exec advisors. Please input into Brenda by 5 Feb.
- Web Page is up-to-date with the latest and greatest information.
- Brief CC Status: After much confusion, we finally made it up there on 28 Jan. We were scheduled for 45 minutes or less and it turned into over an hour. CC is interested in what NMA
can do for NAIC regarding training. It was a very positive session. Thanks to all the following for attending: Shirley Harris, Larry Benson, Aurea Rivera, Stu Cart, Bill Bartlett, Raelynn
Bryan and especially Larry Orcutt. Larry gave the briefing and also had additional material for CC to review.
- Buckeye Council meeting: the next meeting will be on 2 Feb at Bennigan's. The Buckeye Council Speech Contest will be on 23 Mar.
