VAN KUREN CHAPTER OFFICER,

and CHAIRPERSON MEETING MINUTES

27 October 1998


Attendees:Raelynn Bryan, Nancy Burns, Darlene Routhier, William Bartlett, Larry Orcutt, Mark Geisinger, Billye Geisinger, and Brenda Cooper.

  1. President: The next national convention is in Savannah GA and the CMC (combined northeast and southeast) will be in Birmingham AL. Raelynn is going to try and get funds allotted and approved up front. Bill received three inputs for the Master Plan and forwarded them to the command section. The engraved pens are still being considered but Raelynn was going to check into a fundraiser she heard announced on the radio which had something to do with loading boxes (less than 30 pounds). Raelynn announced that she wanted a volunteer to take notes each month to avoid any one individuals always having to do it.

  2. Executive - Vice President: Billye stated that the required paperwork had been sent to 88 SPS/MWR to have our organization recognized as a legal entity on the base.

  3. Professional Development: SMS classes (regular and advanced) will be starting in January 1999. The next CMP test will occur in May. Bill suggested that we start study groups and classes in January 1999. The CMP tests can be given at any time as long as there are five individuals available to take the test.

  4. Vice President of Administration: Darlene announced that there were still a few individuals that had not paid dues.

  5. Awards and Recognition Committee: Raelynn announced that at the national convention, the chapter received an "Excellent" rating and the 1998 first place American Enterprise Chapter Award for size group 5. She also announced that the speech contest was won by our chapter winner, Fulter Hong. All these awards are to be presented at the commander's staff meeting on 4 November, at 0900.

  6. Program Committee: There was no news from the CFTO but they are requesting suggestions.

  7. American Enterprise Committee: Flyers were put out about Operation Christmas Child. The group needs to consider scheduling time for bell ringing for the Salvation Army. Raelynn recommended that individuals consider participation in the Super Saturday event. A publicity package (including pictures) for the 1999 contest need to be taken to the debate teachers at the various schools.

  8. Public Relations: Brenda is to complete a November newsletter and if anyone has a specific item they would like included, please send it to user ID bkc287. Kent has written an all encompassing article which includes chapter accomplishments, publicity about the Manager of the Year and the national speech winner Fulter Hong.

  9. Board Meeting News: The Reinventing NMA briefing was sent to the board members (27 Oct 98) and Bill anticipates having a board meeting by the end of the week. Once the board has met and reviewed the briefing, he can make arrangements to brief the commander. Stu Cart is writing an article for Manage magazine.

  10. Financial Report: None given.

  11. Buckeye Council: The next meeting should be held approximately 4 November.

  12. Open Discussion: The next meeting will be 17 November 1998.
