VAN KUREN CHAPTER OFFICER, CHAIRPERSON,

and EXECUTIVE ADVISOR MEETING MINUTES

19 May 1998


Attendees: Larry Benson (Exec Advisor), Raelynn Bryan, Nancy Burns, Bill Bartlett, Billye Geisinger, Joe Horine, Kent Bierley

  1. Raelynn will be working on a survey to the membership that she would like to distribute sometime in Jun. We need to ensure that the chapter is meeting the memberships needs.

  2. Received paperwork to nominate a National Director. Anyone interested needs to get the paperwork from Raelynn but realize that the expenses come out of the individuals pocket.

  3. The Management Week Proclamation is ready for Col Annas signature.

  4. Membership Drive: Nancy will have brochures, pamphlets, etc available at the Open House. She has already received a few inquiries about joining. Membership Drive will be begin the day of the Open House, 2 Jun and continue through Jun at least. Nancy to get information out to the membership and on the Announcement Board.

  5. Receive one submission for Manager of the Year. Will send out another reminder to the membership. Then the officers will review and majority vote will determine who the Manager of the Year for 1998 will be.

  6. Awards Update: In order to receive the same level award from national we need to accomplish the following before the end of Jun:
    1. Still need the latest board meeting minutes and whether the national director has been invited to board meetings - Rae will contact Shirley regarding this matter.

    2. Need the anticipated budget for the year

    3. Need minutes of the Reinvent NMA Meetings to prove that we are interacting with Exec Advisors

    4. Newsletter - Rae will put together one for the month of Jun.

  7. Programs:
    1. May's Tour was postponed due to time conflicts between Wright Chapter and Van Kuren. Instead we will plan a meeting on the Open House/Banquet/Installation of Officers on 28 May 98. All officers are invited to attend.

    2. Jun will have two programs: Open House with Fulter Hong and 7 Habits of Effective People by Lt Col Foster.

    3. Jul has not been programmed. Billye has a folder full of possibilities. Mr Benson suggested Barry Ballard`s Training Compendium that he is working for NAIC. We will check into this.

  8. Management Week in America:
    1. Open House on 2 Jun 98 will feature Fulter Hong. The flyer needs to highlight the fact he is the winner and will be going to national. Also, to speak will be Mr Benson - What is NMA?, Mr Setchell - How can NMA and NAIC management work together, and Mr Steve Bailey-Latest NMA News. We will have a display of informational pamphlets, awards, and the proclamation. Kent will get a PC in to demonstrate our website.

    2. Awards Luncheon and Installation: Rousch?s on 4 Jun 98. Manager of the Year award will be presented at that time. Nancy needs to get certificates for completion of 10 SMS classes and 7 AMS classes. Joe and Rae will work on certificates and other awards.

    3. Proclamations will be at each entrance of the building. Display case will feature chapter accomplishments.

    4. Wright Chapter will be unable to attend the Open House and Luncheon due to their scheduling similar events that week. However, they will contribute to a gift for Fulter.

    5. Billye and Rae will check with the trophy shop on plaque for Manager of the Year and gift for Fulter (recommendation is a pen and pencil set with his name, our chapter and Wright chapter name, and year engraved)

    6. Rae will check CC's calendar for availability for both events and also encourage 2lt participation.

  9. Next meeting is 16 June 98 at 1300 in PO Conf Rm.
