VAN KUREN CHAPTER OFFICER, CHAIRPERSON,

and EXECUTIVE ADVISOR MEETING MINUTES

30 April 1998


Attendees: Larry Benson (Exec Advisor), Raelynn Bryan, Nancy Burns, Bill Bartlett, Billye Geisinger, Joe Horine, Kent Bierley

  1. CMC: Kent reported that the CMC was great and he brought back several copies of the training sessions he attended. He also has electronic copies of organizational overview and Ingredients for a Successful Chapter. Raelynn asked for a point paper on the ideas that came out of the conference (such as marketing programs via staff meetings and other organizations) due 12 May 98. The next CMC will be in Birmingham AL.

  2. Evaluation of Officers and Chairpersons: Raelynn will try to have that together by the next meeting to pass along to members.

  3. Classes: AMS is finishing up and scheduling makeups.

  4. Newsletter: Brenda Cooper purchased the CM package and will be taking the test in October. She has offered the chapter the use of the books once she has completed.

  5. American Enterprise: HOBY is 15-17 May 98 at UD. Rudy Belvin has invited us to attend and also to help sponsor the event. (We sent $50.)

  6. Management Week:
    1. Fulter Hong will speak on 2 Jun at the Open House

    2. Proclamation to be signed by Col Annas and jointly get a proclamation from the Governor of Ohio with Wright Chapter

    3. Awards Luncheon will be at Rouschs on 4 Jun. Officer Installations will also be at that time.

    4. Manager of the Year announcement needs to get out. Billye and Rae will get that out tomorrow.

    5. The chapter has the display case for the month of Jun. We will feature last years award, CTFO, and Covey.

  7. Awards Update: need the latest copy of the Board Meeting minutes.

  8. Raelynn discussed NMA nominating Dr Van Kuren for the Watson Award. All officers, committee chairs, and exec advisor agreed.

  9. CTFO schedule has been redone again. They meet on Wednesday, once a week.

  10. Programs:
    1. LandMark Forum- people are interested in the program however we will have to look at how it is done before offering it again. Mr Benson will be possibly attending a session in Jun and will get back with us on it.

    2. Jun Program will feature Fulter Hong as the regional winner of the American Enterprise Speech Contest. We will also have the video with the other participants and have an open house.

  11. Web Site has been getting hits and several folks are learning about NMA. It was stressed we need to keep it up to date.

  12. Reinventing NMA meetings have been cancelled due to work conflicts. However, they are busy putting together a presentation to present to CC in the very near future.

  13. Buckeve Council will be having an meeting in Jun in Columbus. Time and place is still to be determined. We need to consider nominating a member for the Silver or Gold Knight Award.

  14. Discussed asking Larry Orcutt to become an Executive Advisor to the chapter to continue the momentum he has started at the board and reinvent meetings.

  15. Next meeting is 19 May 98 at 1300 in PO Conf Rm.
