VAN KUREN CHAPTER OFFICER, CHAIRPERSON,

and EXECUTIVE ADVISOR MEETING MINUTES

29 January 1998

Attendance: Raelynn Bryan, Nancy Burns, Bill Bartlett, Billye Geisinger, Kent Bierley

  1. Future of Chapter and Management Support: Raelynn spoke about the chapters future and asked all officer's to brainstorm about involvment and membership participation. Regarding management support Raelynn has asked that each officer contact their department heads with a video to let them know that NMA is in the building. She will be showing the video to Lt Col Foster/CAG Annas to review. Lt Col Foster is already scheduled to facilitate a SMS class. We do have a new member from upper management Mr Bill Setchell.

  2. Raelynn asked that officers let her know when they volunteer to do a project that NMA may be involved in some capacity. There have been a few problems with volunteering to do projects that upper management has requested and they have not been accomplished. We all have heavy workloads and need to balance our work with additional NMA projects. We can not get upper management support/involvement if we continue to volunteer to do projects and not complete.

  3. Management Week begins 1 Jun 98. Looking into getting a proclamation at the city or state level as well as the organization level. Awards Banquet will be tentatively 4 Jun where we will present the Manager of the Year Award and hear the speech contest winner.

  4. Miscellaneous:
    1. Received a nice thank you from Dr Dollar for our gift upon his retirement.

    2. Will email a copy of Mr Benson's speech from Career Dev Graduation

  5. Professional Development:
    1. There is a misunderstanding in an area of the building that has let the employees to believe that the SMS and AMS classes will not benefit them. Nancy Burns will go speak to those individuals as well as trying to get Shirley Harris, chairman of the board. They will tell them the benefits of taking the courses and hopefully turn that logic around.

    2. The notification of Wright Chapters upcoming mini conference has been distributed to the 2ltr Exec's. Check with them. I have offered our assistance to Wright Chapter in setting up the conference.

    3. SMS and AMS have started. CM class will begin soon due to the test in Apr.

  6. Newsletter Status: Brenda Cooper was introduced to the officers and chairperson. Raelynn will try to get Wanda and Brenda together in the near future. In the meantime Brenda has coppies of previous issues of the newsletter and discussed with Mr Bartlett about transferring the format to her.

  8. Monthly Meeting: Feb program will be Bob Lovegrean, Mar Tax program, Apr combined tour of headquarters.
