Chapter Officers & Chairperson Meeting Minutes - 24 June 1997

1. The Chapter Officers & Chairpersons met at 1300 on Tuesday, 24 June, 1997.
2. Monthly Program Status: The NAIC Commander, Colonel Dumm, is scheduled to be the guest speaker at the June 1997 Monthly Membership and Workforce Program. The Program is titled "The Future of NAIC". This will be our Top Management Program for the year.
3. Election of New Officers: Kent Bierley and Tom Mullins from the Board of Directors have been running this event. Tom Mullins now resigns as he will be more beneficial to the Chapter when he run for Executive Vice President. Shirley Harris from the Board of Directors will replace Tom.
4. Luncheon Awards Banquet: The Annual Awards Banquet was held 6 June 1997. It went extremely well. Everyone who worked to make this a successful event is to be sincerely thanked. This was definitely teamwork. All participants had a great time. It gave the Chapter the opportunity to recognize the efforts many of our members contribute on a regular basis. We had three especially significant awards. The Executive Advisors (Larry Benson and Aurea Rivera) were recognized for always being there to listen and/or give advice. Bill Bartlett receive the Exceptional Service Award for EVERYTHING he does. Finally, but even more significant, the Chapter honored Barry Ballard as our First Annual Local Manager of the Year with a plaque.
5. Newsletter: Everyone needs to help Wanda. She can't publish a paper without items. We must all do our share and get the items written and to Wanda on time so our Newletters can be published.
6. Financial Report: Bill Bartlett didn't have all the figures with him but basically, The Awards Luncheon grossed us a net loss of approximately $150.00 Doesn't look good for offering a discount during our annual membership drive.
7. Professional Development: The Advanced Studies Program class #6 finished on 23 Jun 97. The Supervisory and Management Skill Program class #9 will finish up on 1 or 3 Jul 97.
8. Buckeye Council: Met on 10 Jun 97. They had election of officer's. Two Van Kuren Chapter members attended: Bill Bartlett and Kent Bierley. The Council had election of Officer's for the 97-98 season. Sad news is that we've lost the Toledo Sun Chapter.
9. Management Week in America: Kicks off with a bang! Prepared Proclamation for the NAIC Commander to sign and it was ready in time to go into our Front Lobby Display Case for Management Week (and Month). The Display Case looks great and all (and again this was a team effort) who volunteered their time (and ideas) to help are to be commended. Kent plans to get the Web page completed and approved to go Internet before the end of Management Week in America (if he obtains Command approval in time.).
