OLD AND NEW BUSINESS
  1. The Chapter Officers & Chairpersons met at 1400 on Friday, 31 Jan, 1997.
  2. Monthly membership and workforce programs are moving along. We have been averaging 50 attendees at each program featuring a guest speaker. We have the momentum moving and want to keep it going.
    1. Shirley Harris of the Bd of Directors is checking into possible speakers.
    2. Tom Mullins of the Bd of Directors nominated a program on Contract Management.
    3. Security would appreciate a program on Computer Security.
    4. A program is suggested on Members discussing how NMA has improved their careers.
    5. Another suggested speaker is a past NAIC Vice Commander, Mr. Jimmy Caldwell.
    6. Meanwhile, for the Month's of Feb and Mar 97--Billye has requested the NAIC Commander, Col Dumm, be a guest speaker. Also, she is working with Wright State to provide a speaker on Business for either Feb or Mar. We are waiting to hear the results.
    7. The Chapter requested a tour of NMA HQ, Dayton. Bill Bartlett approached the HQ NMA President, Steve Bailey and it was decided a tour would be arranged the first week in April.
  3. Professional Development:
    1. The Supervisory and Management Skills Program Course #8 and the Advanced Management Studies Program Course #5 have begun. Both classes include past NMA members as students (besides the usual class roster).
    2. One problem we have is students being late for the class (or not showing up at all). This is disrespectful to our volunteer facilitators and methods are being implemented to correct this problem.
    3. Our automated program for accounting of students and facilitators is currently on hold. Bill Bartlett has been working this and his equipment is temporarily unavailable.
  4. Membership accounting for all:
    1. All officers need a current copy of the membership roster. (Billye to send)
    2. Discussed when our two honorary memberships will begin. Decided on the 1997-1998 year.
    3. Need to check on one currently outstanding membership payment.
    4. All members wish to see the membership increased; therefore, we should all be actively telling others how NMA has helped us. Nancy Burns has been doing this and has several possible new members in her Division.
  5. American Enterprise Committee Report: Kent was not available for the meeting. Note: See the update of projects reported at the Bd of Director's Meeting, 11 Feb 97. However, Kent and Billye have discussed the following projects:
    1. Special Olympics Bowling Finale is 15 Feb 96--do we have a group of NMA volunteers? has everyone been invited to participate?
    2. March of Dimes Walk-a-thon Area business are signing folks up to participate. We know there is a group in NMA who wish to participate. What is the date? How to signup as an NMA Group? (Raelynn is calling to get more info on this)
    3. Speech Contest arrangements are proceeding on schedule.
  6. Public Relations Committee:
    1. Wanda is still working the newsletter between a busy work schedule. Hopefully, we'll see it before the end of this month. After the first publication, everything should roll fairly smoothly.
  7. Buckeye Council: There was not a Buckeye Council meeting in January. The next meeting is scheduled on 13 Feb 97 in Lima, OH. If you would like to go, please give Bill Bartlett a call.
  8. Financial Report: Bill Bartlett will have the records audited this year. Do we have a volunteer to do this?
  9. NMA Calendar: Raelynn reported that she will be posting items on the NMA calendar. Items will be due to Rae on the 14th and due to Wanda (for the paper) on the 15th. Kent has been kind enough to inform Billye of upcoming events which might not be posted (and get them posted).
  10. IMPORTANT:We always need volunteers to help with ongoing projects. If you want to volunteer, please call, Billye/R511/72712 or Raelynn/R320/71131.
    1. Coordinate a Monthly Member/Workforce Program. It's a good way to get visibility. Samples will be provided.
    2. Fundraising activity. We need help on acquiring the regulations and getting permission. Note: if you have ideas of things to sale, please notify an officer or chairperson. We are planning to discuss this at the next officers meeting on 18 Feb 97.
    3. We need to volunteer to work setting up Membership Recruitment.
    4. Volunteers to set up this year's Banquet are needed.
  11. Meeting adjouned at 1500 hours.
