Certified Management Courses
To prepare for the CM exams, ICPM has provided training material to
aid in personal or group study.
The subject matter follows the topic areas of the
three exams. Review questions appear at the end of each chapter.
The cources probably represent the single best source of reference
material relevant to the exam. However, neither the course manuals nor any
other formal course curriculum cover all the specific areas from which
exam questions may be asked.
Personal Skills for the Manager by Ronald S. Burke focuses on the
skills needed for individuals to manage themselves and lead others.
Participants will:
- better understand their situations and their own work
- develop a better understanding of various jobs within the
organization and how they affect the manager's role
- study the basic responsibilities of managers, and how these
responsibilities relate to the organization
- learn specialized concepts dealing with the manager's role, such
as successful supervision and management by objectives
- learn key skills a manager should develop, including time
management, communication and delegation

Administrative Skills for the Manager by Ronald S. Burke provides
information to carry out duties like accounting, finance and decision
making. Participants will:
- improve their understanding of the crucial planning and control
process, including forecasting, flow charting and budgeting
- learn about the basic guidelines and tools of compensation
management from job evaluation to performance reviews
- review the basics of business mathematics and its use in
statistical decision making
- develop a fundamental understanding of the computer, its
applications and its role in management information systems
- learn about important inter-relations between business,
government and labor

Interpersonal Skills for the Manager by John Morgan offers a
comprehensive approach to the interpersonal skills needed to motivate
subordinates to maximum achievement. Participants will:
- increase their knowledge of individual psychology and group
dynamics
- understand many approaches to leadership that inspire loyalty and
cooperation
- develop a solid understanding of aspects of human behavior that
motivate people to maximum potential
- study the complex roles of unions in today's management
environment
- learn how to develop a successful framework for human resource
planning and management
