Certified Manager (CM) Program
A certification program of recognition for achieving professional standards in the areas of personal, administrative, and interpersonal skills is now available through the Institute of Certified Professional Managers (ICPM). This program is open to all applicants who meet application standards. ICPM provides an objective evaluation of managerial competence. This is done through an application process which evaluates one's education and experience on a point system. In addition, each applicant must sit for a three-part examination covering:
Upon approval of your application and satisfactory completion of the examination, the Certified Manager designation is awarded.
The Certified Manager Exam has two primary objectives. The first, of course, is to attest to your capabilities as a professional manager. The second, perhaps even more important, is to encourage and to assist you in developing those vital managerial skills. The CM Exam is given twice a year: the first Saturday in May, and the first Saturday in December. Three ICPM group discussion courses are available through the Institute to assist in preparing for the CM Exam. In addition, a new self-study program is also available.
An Associate CM Program has recently been instituted. Applicants who meet either the educational or experience requirements (but not both) may sit for the exam as well. Associate CMs may become fully certified upon completion of the remaining requirements.
