Board of Directors Meeting Minutes - 31 March 1999
Board members present:
- Mr. Bill Bartlett, Chair
- Mr. Tom Mullins
- Mr. Mark Geisinger
Chapter Officer present:
New Business:
- Billye reported the following items:
- The chapter is official. The base has requirements for all
outside organization operating on the base and in the past our chapter
was not listed as an official base organization. Billye has submitted
the proper paperwork to the base so that now our chapter officially
exists on the base.
- The Chapter plaque to be placed in the hallway has been
approved by Capt. Ashby
- The chapter will open its Manager-of-the-Year award for
nominations from anyone in NAIC, as opposed to previous years where
only members could nominate.
- The chapter newsletter is in its final stages of preparation
--articles are needed.
- The membership drive will start in three months.
- Board comments-well done Chapter officers
- NAIC support via form 1556 for the management classes
- Billye has finished her research on restrictions to limit
paying of management classes for non-managerial personnel. She and
Mr. Benson could find no base policy, regulation or instruction that
in any way restricted use of training funds in this way. Recommends
that the board pursue staff summary sheet action to obtain 1556 support
for the chapter management classes.
- The board agrees and will start action to request NAIC's
participation in paying for the chapter management courses.
- Bill announced that the professional development classes would
experiment with classes outside the building to entice base and
area "B" personnel into the classes. No board comments
- Election status:
- Bill will find a volunteer to run the election for the board.
- Since the chapter is so small and in strong need of new personnel
to run for officer positions Bill will check with NMA headquarters to
see if new innovative requirement methods are authorized--such as allowing
previous members to run for office if they are paid up for the coming year.
- The Board approves this exploration with the stipulation that the
election is still in the hands of the members. All candidates for office
will go through the normal nomination process so the members can vote
on them.
- Local Manager of the Year Award:
- Billye requested that the board be the judges for the local
manager of the year award.
- The board agreed to choose the winner but the officers will do
all the other administrative tasks of announcing, and collecting the
nominations.
Closing: Bill thanked everyone for coming to the meeting and
adjourned.
