Board of Directors Meeting Minutes - 10 Dec 1996
ATTENDEES: TOM MULLINS (CHAIRPERSON),
SHIRLEY HARRIS,
MICHAEL BACHMAN,
LARRY ORCUTT
- The NMA board met at 1400 on Tuesday, 10 Dec, 1996.
- Discussions centered around how to connect the Chapter with Management in
a more positive light.
Suggestions:
- Check local colleges for presentations/seminars offered through their
Speaker's Bureau for topics of interest to the Van Kuren Chapter and the NAIC
workforce. Shirley Harris volunteered to do the check and report back to the
Board.
- Solicit the involvement of the NAIC Management Staff with the Van
Kuren Chapter of NMA in the form of leadership presentations and through
membership with the NAIC Chapter.
- Questions arose about why the Chapter was more involved with civic
activities rather than concentrating on becoming a viable management influence.
What does the Van Kuren Chapter President have in mind. Answer: When approached with this question. The President, Billye Geisinger,
replied "Timing." "The Van Kuren Chapter had not been fulfilling its American
Enterprise requirements. This year, Billye wanted to ensure all the activities
were documented. Additionally, during the holidays, there are many activities
associated with civic and charity organizations. Our Chapter is too small to
run many projects simultaneously, so the decision was made to concentrate on
the American Enterprise requirements and then switch back to
Management/Leadership by promoting programs, etc. to inform the NAIC workforce.
- Proposal submitted to the Board for approval a "Change the Name" contest.
Winner would receive a one-year free membership to the Van Kuren Chapter.
Proposal was approved by the Board.
- Meeting adjouned at 1500 hours.
