FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - NMA Chapters seeks High School Students for Speech Contest
The NASIC Van Kuren and Wright Chapters of the National Management Association (NMA) are sponsoring their annual American Enterprise Speech Contest. The local contest is part of a program sponsored by the national organization.
The primary purposes of the contest are to promote a better understanding of the American Enterprise System by high school students; to increase awareness among students and adults of the important role that a free economy plays in a free society; and to provide an incentive for development of the communication skills vital to success in American business. Participants can win cash and savings bonds which can be used for their education.
Open to any ninth through twelfth grade students, the contest requires a four to six minute speech relating to the economic system of America, commonly referred to as the American Enterprise System. Contestants may use notes, but may not read the speech verbatim. No audio or visual aids may be used during the presentation.
Local prizes are $200 for first place, $100 for second and $50 for third. The local winner may then compete for additional prizes including $200 at the council level, a regional prize of a $2,000 U.S. Savings Bond and the national prize of a $10,000 U.S. Savings Bond. In 1998, Fulter Hong, a senior from Beavercreek High School, was sponsored by our Chapters and won the national level contest!
