Rare Bird Alert

The highlights of this report are:
  • Bald Eagle
  • Winter Wren
  • Lapland Longspur
  • Horned Lark

Seen at Englewood MetroPark on December 19th were immature Bald Eagle and Winter Wren.

Observed December 18th at Brukner Nature Center was Purple Finch, while Horned Lark were seen on Horseshoe Bend Rd., and Canvasback and Redhead were seen at Kiser Lake.

Seen on December 17th on the edge of Western Darke County roads were Lapland Longspur, Horned Lark, and Snow Buntings.

On December 17th, seen at Caesar Creek lake from the Furnas Rd. boat ramp were Red-necked and Horned Grebe, Common Loon, Common Goldeneye, Black Duck, and Bufflehead.

Seen on December 16th in the large corn field east of the Spring Valley Wildlife Area was a large flock ( 300 or so) of Lapland Longspur and Horned Lark.

Observed at Caesar Creek on December 15th were White-winged and Surf Scoter, and Red-necked and Horned Grebe.
