Rare Bird Alert

The highlights of this report are:
  • Red Phalarope
  • White Pelican
  • White-throated Sparrow
  • Ruby-crowned Kinglet

A Red Phalarope has been seen for several days, including today, at the north end of the beach at Buck Creek State Park.

Observed on October 4th at Possum Creek MetroPark were Great Crested Flycatcher, Pied-billed Grebe, Spotted Sandpiper, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and Song and Field Sparrow.

Seen at Grand Lake St. Marys on October 3rd were White Pelican, 2 adult and 5 or 6 immature Bald Eagles, Osprey, and Willet.

Seen October 3rd at Englewood MetroPark were White-throated Sparrow, Magnolia Warbler, and Rose-breasted Grosbeak.

Observed at Englewood MetroPark on October 2nd were Philadelphia Vireo, Field Sparrow, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Swainson's Thrush, Pileated Woodpecker, and many Red-winged Blackbirds.

On October 2nd, twenty Wild Turkeys were observed on Horseshoe Bend Rd. near the Brukner Nature Center.

Seen at Huffman Prairie on October 2nd were 43 species, including Savannah Sparrow, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, and Sedge Wren.

The Audubon Field Trip participants at Englewood MetroPark on September 29th saw Nashville, Chestnut-sided, Blackpoll, and Magnolia Warbler; Northern Parula, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Brown Thrasher, Eastern Towhee, Swainson's Thrush, and many Catbirds.
