The highlights of this report are:
  • First-of-the-Season Field Sparrow
  • First-of-the-Season Osprey
  • American White Pelican
  • Common Loon

Large numbers and types of waterfowl continue to be seen through the Miami Valley.

A Great Horned Owl is nesting at Charleston Falls.

On March 25th, a first-of-the-season Field Sparrow was seen at Englewood MetroPark.

Observed March 24th at a Germantown residential feeder were Pine Warbler, Pine Siskin, and a Purple Finch.

On March 24th, 3 American White Pelicans were seen at C.J. Brown Reservoir.

On March 24th, observed at Englewood MetroPark north park were Great Egret, Redhead, Lesser Scaup, and Mallard; Ruddy and Black Duck; and Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal.

On March 23rd, the Merlin at Germantown MetroPark was again seen near the entrance to the Nature Center. It has also been seen in the vicinity of the picnic shelters.

On March 23rd, Hooded, Common, and Red-breasted Merganser; Common Loon; and Horned, Eared, and Pied-billed Grebe as well as Eastern Meadowlark, Double-crested Cormorant, and Sandhill Crane were seen at Grand Lake St. Marys, while 2 female Surf Scoters were observed at the Fish Hatchery.

Seen at Spring Valley Wildlife Area on March 21st were 2 Bald Eagles, Osprey, Eastern Bluebird, Eastern Phoebe, Eastern Meadowlark, Yellow-rumped Warbler, and Red-shouldered Hawk.
