"Appreciating Syzygy: Emily Dickinson, Hog Island, and NASA"

Tom Schaefer, 1981 Dayton Audubon scholarship recipient, writes about some unexpected connections between the Hog Island Audubon Camp and significant people in American culture. In this essay he reflects on his own transcendent first trip to the Audubon Camp and the island's connections to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge at the Kennedy Space Center. The connection? A world famous birder, of course!
