Birders! The U. S. Department
of Agriculture Forest Service requests your assistance in locating and
reporting the presence of the Asian
Longhorned Beetle (3/4 to
1-1/4 inches long). This large beetle, recently introduced into the U. S.
from China, poses a serious and urgent threat to hardwood trees, as it
tunnels into the trees and kills them.
Birders, due to the nature of their activities, are particularly well
equipped and competent to locate this beetle outbreak.
