The highlights of this report are:

  • An amazing Mulberry Tree and Sedge Wrens

Two Sedge Wrens were seen at Grant Park in Centerville today.

 Often as many as fifteen species of birds are seen in the Mulberry Tree located on the opposite side of the road where the first sign indicating Patty's Shelter is seen at Englewood Metro Park. Those birds include Summer and Scarlet Tanager; Pileated, Red-bellied and Downy Woodpecker; Baltimore Oriole, Eastern Phoebe, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Indigo Bunting, Warbling Vireo and Chipping Sparrow.

 Currently being seen at the Englewood Metro Park lagoon are Lesser Yellowlegs; Solitary, Spotted, Least and Semipalmated Sandpiper; Barn Swallow and Chimney Swift while Blue Grosbeak, Willow Flycatcher and Eastern Wood-Pewee are being observed at the North park.

 On July 10th 29 species were seen at Glen Helen near Grinnell Mill including Turkey and Black Vulture; Red-shouldered Hawk, Cedar Waxwing, Red-eyed Vireo, Northern Parula, Common Yellowthroat and Indigo Bunting.
